Kansas Quality Rating System (KQRS)
KQRS is a 5-Star quality rating system for child care centers, preschools, Head Start facilities, faith-based preschool programs and family child care homes.
Participating child care programs receive a comprehensive assessment that results in a 1-5 Star Quality Rating with 5 Stars as the highest possible rating.

The important job of finding quality child care is now easier with a ranking system like movies, restaurants and hotels use…only for child care! The higher the number of stars awarded, the more comfortable you can feel about the quality of the child care facility.

Easily share with families that your site is a quality environment for their children!
All participants:
- Have access to a Quality Improvement Coach who can help the program set and achieve goals to make program improvements.
- Are eligible for quality improvement grants that can be used to purchase materials, equipment or pay for accreditation fees that will improve overall program quality.
- Are eligible for college scholarships
- Are eligible for salary supplements
Rating Assessment Areas:
A rating of 1-5 stars is awarded to programs, based upon assessment of five quality indicators:
- Learning Environment
- Accreditation
- Family Partnerships
- Training & Education
- Adult-to-Child Ratios & Group Sizes
