Healthy Kansas Kids
Healthy Kansas Kids Program is a project grant working to improve physical activity and healthy eating for Kansas kids by providing coaching, support and professional development events to child care professionals.
Eligible applicants:
- Currently, Healthy Kansas Kids is not seeking applicants. Check back early 2011.
Participants enrolled in the program will receive:
- A mini grant for approved equipment to promote physical activity and healthy eating in the child care setting
- Focused support from an Infant/Toddler Specialist
- Professional evaluation of program
- On–site and one-on-one visits with an Infant/Toddler Specialist
- Training opportunities and support to achieve goals set for the program
Participants are required to attend specified professional development events (A Professional Development Membership will cover the cost of the requirement) and must also complete a taxpayer identification form (W-9). The mini grant is taxable income.
Benefits of participating in HKK:
- In-service credit hours
- Building relationships with co-workers and parents
- Relationship with an Infant/Toddler Specialist who has access to a variety of tools and resources within the community
- Gain information on health and improving physical activities in child care programs
Six professional development events focusing on physical activity and nutrition are offered by Child Start throughout the year:

- Pick A Better Snack: Go for the Whole Grains
- Active Play Area Design
- Healthy Kansas Kids & Active Families
