About Child Care Resource & Referral (CCR&R)

Child Start's Child Care Resource & Referral (CCR&R) program helps assure child caregivers in South Central Kansas provide high quality environments for young children through training, support, and consumer education. CCR&R is located in the Child Start main office located at 1069 S. Glendale Street. Office hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Provider Services

CCR&R serves child care professionals in 11 Kansas counties: Butler, Cowley, Harper, Harvey, Kingman, Marion, McPherson, Reno, Rice, Sedgwick, and Sumner. Also known as the District Office, technical assistance, trainings and resources are provided to caregivers in an effort to build the skills and knowledge needed to provide high quality environments for young children.

Parent Services

The Child Start CCR&R Call Center serves 53 counties in the Southern half of the state (316 and 620 area codes). The Call Center distributes child care consumer education and helps parents who are seeking child care.

Funding

The Child Care Resource and Referral Program receives funding through United Way of the Plains, Rice County United Way, Reno/Rice County Smart Start, as well as SRS monies, Early Childhood Block Grant, and Kansas Children’s Initiative funds  through the Child Care Aware of Kansas (Formerly KACCRRA)).

In addition, CCR&R depends on raising funds through training, membership, and substitute fees, corporate contracts, the annual Growing With Children conference, and donations by individuals and companies.
