This session also addresses how and when to report suspected abuse and neglect, and what happens after you make the report. |

| This session focuses on what Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) is and is not, ways to reduce the risk of SIDS in the childcare setting, how to handle a SIDS emergency and how to help yourself and others cope when SIDS occurs. Participants explore strategies to reduce the risk of SIDS such as not smoking, back sleeping, proper temperature control, encouraging breastfeeding, proper use of pacifiers, establishing a Safe Sleep Policy and support information from the SIDS Network of Kansas. The course addresses definitions and statistics of SIDS and describes steps to take to reduce infant death. |
