Supporting a Healthy Baby
Research shows that the early years of life are one of the most important and critical periods in a persons life. This is because what a child learns in the first few years of life last a lifetime. Since a child’s brain develops dramatically after birth, it is really important that the experiences and treatment a child is exposed to are positive and healthy experiences and treatment. During the first years of life, the brain is being “wired” for sight, sound, hearing, trust, behavior patterns, thinking ability, and much more through the experiences or treatment a child receives. A baby needs experiences that will promote the “wiring” of positive connections.
Positive connections are needed for healthy social-emotional development which is the foundation for healthy behaviors. Because children learn what they live, it is important for the parent to help the child grow and develop in the most healthful way possible.
