Key Staff

RuppTeresa Rupp
Executive Director

Teresa Rupp has led Child Start since 1983. As Executive Director, she works in partnership with the Board of Directors to see that their vision is carried out in the day to day services and activities of the organization, leads the organization’s staff, serves as Child Start’s primary spokesperson, and builds partnerships and area-wide capacity to address the needs of young children. Teresa began her career in college student services at Colby Community College and later served as a human resources planner for Springfield, Missouri. She earned a Master of Public Administration from the University of Kansas and a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics from Kansas State University. Teresa was selected as a Kansas Health Foundation Leadership Fellow in 1999 and serves as co-chair of Visioneering Wichita’s Birth-Kindergarten Strategic Alliance and as a member of the Visioneering Wichita Steering Committee.

WilcoxGlenda Wilcox
Early Childhood Program Director

Glenda Wilcox began her career at Child Start in 1980 serving in a variety of positions from Home Visitor to Program Coordinator to Program Director. Since 2007, Glenda has served as the Director of the Child Start 0-5 Early Childhood Program overseeing the federally funded Head Start and Early Head Start Programs as well as Kansas Early Head Start. In addition to her career at Child Start, Glenda worked as a therapist in private practice for 14 years serving children and adults in both individual and group settings. Glenda is a Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist (LCMFT) with a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Friends University, a Bachelor’s Degree in Women’s Studies from Wichita State University and a Child Development Associate credential.

DunnCheryl Dunn
Child Care Aware Program Director

In 1997, Cheryl Dunn began to direct all activities of the Child Care Resource and Referral Program toward the single goal of excellent services/support for child care providers and parents. As the Outreach Program Director for Child Start, she supervises the managing staff of the Child Care Resource District Office serving 11 counties in South Central Kansas and the Child Care Referral Call Center serving both the 316 and 620 area codes. Previously, Cheryl was the Director of the WSU Child Development Center. Prior to that position, she was faculty advisor and instructor at Barton County Community College and Director of the campus Child Development Center. Cheryl earned her Master’s Degree in Adult and Continuing Education from Kansas State University.


viramontezTina Viramontez
Finance Director

Tina Viramontez has served as Child Start’s financial officer since 2008.  As the Finance Director, she is responsible for the oversight of the business office staff, the preparation and integrity of the financial statements and budgets, and monitors the organization for compliance with all laws, regulations, and contract/grant agreements.  Tina has 17 years experience in public accounting, auditing, and in the private sector.  Tina is a Certified Public Accountant and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Fort Hays State University.

 


MeyerLee Meyer
Human Resources Director

Human Resources Director, Lee Meyer, has been with Child Start since 2004. She is responsible for the overall development and leadership of operational compliance policies and procedures, as well as working with Program Directors in areas of recruitment, training and compensation. Lee earned her Master of Business Administration from Webster University and her Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resources from Wichita State University.

 

 

MaackAnne Maack
Director of Public Affairs

Since 2009 Anne Maack 's role is to engage the community in the mission and vision of Child Start. As Director of Public Affairs, she manages the organization’s communication strategy, public relations, and public policy agenda. Previously, Anne worked for two years with the Kansas Coalition for School Readiness on a campaign to increase state investment in early childhood education. Anne has been associated with Child Start since 1991 serving in a variety of roles including Child Care Outreach Training Coordinator and Head Start Family Educator. Anne earned her Master of Public Administration from Wichita State University and her Bachelor’s in Human Services from Macalester College in St Paul, MN.
