Goal: To earn Quality Assured status from NACCRRA
The Child Care Resource and Referral program has undertaken the considerable goal of becoming Quality Assured. The Quality Assurance standards set forth by the National Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies (NACCRRA) assure that our department operates according the highest industry standard. This is a two year process and it will be another year before it’s complete, but quality indicators are being submitted to NACCRRA according to the timeline.
Goal: To expand early childhood services for children birth to five-years-old
The number of children in our region whose families are eligible for Head Start services has been steadily climbing. Child Start has to grow for Head Start slots to keep pace with the number of eligible children. In 2009/10 Child Start received three grants from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act allowing us to serve 132 additional children 0-5.
Goal: To serve children from birth to kindergarten-entry in one setting
A few years ago Child Start restructured to serve children 0-5 under one management structure. The result has been that families experience a streamlined transition from one program enrollment to another. However, families still had to transition to another location. This year, Child Start opened 2nd Street Head Start, our first facility serving children from birth to kindergarten-entry under one roof.
